About Us

Deborah Tolman, Ph.D. earned her Doctorate in Environmental Sciences and Resources and Geography at Portland State University. She is the owner of Avant Gardens, nw and balances her time between research, education, and spending time in the garden.

Michelle Lasley studies Sustainable Urban Development at Portland State University. She enjoys reading, sketching, and taking walks with her family.

Joe Parker is working towards an Interdisciplinary MA in History, Anthropology and Geography. His research in China examines climate change and government policy influence on irrigation management practices of Chinese farmers.
